Vestas aims to be the global leader in the after-sales and service market for the wind energy sector. With a new PIM system optimizing customer purchasing and product experiences, the wind energy giant can now deliver innovative service offerings.
Vestas operates shop.vestas.com, an industry-leading online marketplace for wind turbine spare parts. Customers can access thousands of components, from small nuts and bolts to entire turbine blades, sourced from multiple suppliers and covering all major wind turbine models.
Previously, the product catalog contained approximately 25,000 products and spare parts, with product information transferred manually from the SAP system to the webshop.
Vestas aimed to streamline and automate these processes, replacing them with a scalable commercial product catalog that would also include service offerings alongside traditional product listings.
To achieve this, Vestas implemented a PIM system based on the inriver platform, integrating scalable cloud components from Microsoft Azure. This ensures a single source of product information for all products and services, accessible across both internal and external sales channels.
The PIM system enriches products with detailed technical and commercial data, including descriptions, images, specifications, and relevant documentation. Once enriched, the information becomes available to customers via Vestas’ eCommerce platform.
Vestas now operates a scalable digital platform that optimizes the customer purchasing experience while offering innovative service solutions.
Shop.vestas.com enables efficient product enrichment, catalog structuring, and assortment management, ensuring customers always have access to the most relevant information.
Additionally, sales, service, and support teams can now deliver enhanced customer service with comprehensive product and service details, accessible via an internal information portal.
