Innovative fintech app ensures better and fairer money transfers across countries

PostalPay is an innovative fintech app that enables fast and fair international money transfers through a vast global network of physical post offices or digitally via banks.

The challenge

To compete effectively in the international money transfer market, PostalPay aimed to offer customers fair pricing, low fees, and competitive exchange rates.

Additionally, the solution needed to align with UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 10, which focuses on reducing global inequality by ensuring accessible and fair financial services for all.

With the new app-based solution, PostalPay successfully entered the remittance market, challenging major industry players by providing a customer-centric experience rather than a traditional transactional approach.

PostalPay’s innovative money transfer app combines:

 

A key feature of the app is built-in chat functionality, allowing users to communicate directly with their contacts, even sending a simple thank you message after a transfer. This personalized experience reassures both sender and recipient, ensuring the money always reaches the right person.

The app is available on iOS and Android and is built on a scalable microservice architecture, enabling global expansion.

Additionally, it meets strict security and compliance requirements, including an automated cross-border Know-Your-Customer (KYC) validation process, ensuring full regulatory compliance for financial transactions.

The result

The new mobile application makes it easy to send money home from abroad through digital deposits and physical cash withdrawals.

By leveraging a global network of post offices and banks, the app extends financial services to remote and underserved regions, providing access where traditional banking was previously unavailable.

Users - both senders and recipients - benefit from a secure and transparent experience, with the ability to track transactions step by step until the money is collected at the local branch.

The collaboration

Immeo served as the advisory and implementation partner, responsible for the pre-analysis, technical design, and implementation of the PostalPay app. An external agency provided the graphic design, while PostalPay managed the final rollout.

During the pre-analysis and design phase, we facilitated workshops with the client, both physically and digitally.

The development team consisted of seven Immeo developers working closely with five of PostalPay’s in-house developers, ensuring a strong collaboration focused on knowledge-sharing, design principles, and best practices, benefiting both teams throughout the process.
