Nordlux initiates a strategic digitalization process with a new 'Cradle to Grave' PIM solution

Nordlux is on an ambitious growth and product development journey, aiming to launch more products at a faster pace. This requires a redigitalization of how product information is managed.

The challenge

Nordlux is one of Europe’s leading providers of modern and functional lighting, offering six product categories and selling in more than 64 countries.

As the first step in a major digitalization process, Nordlux wanted to gain greater control over all existing and upcoming products, data, and media - creating a single overview of their entire product portfolio. Additionally, they needed better end-to-end product data management from initial concept to end-of-life

Better control of product data from cradle to grave

Nordlux sought a scalable and efficient process to accelerate time-to-market for both new products and evergreens across 4,000+ retailers.

The requirement was a Product Information Management (PIM) system that not only served as a traditional PIM but could also enhance business processes and manage product data throughout its entire lifecycle.

The solution

To ensure scalability and comply with European energy efficiency regulations—such as the classification system for EU energy labeling—Nordlux needed to be able to quickly adapt to new product data requirements.

After assessing Nordlux’s needs, we recommended a PIM solution designed to manage the entire product lifecycle. Nordlux opted for inriver PIM, a modern and forward-thinking platform that supports PLM, PIM, and DAM functionalities for both current and future business needs.

Behind the solution

Inriver PIM is a user-friendly platform that offers extensive product enrichment capabilities, providing users with greater flexibility and a clear overview.

The platform has given Nordlux a powerful and scalable tool to maintain a comprehensive view of all products—from initial concept to launch—including key elements such as product type, family, certifications, and energy classification.

Additionally, product data distribution across different channels is now intuitive and user-friendly, both at the element and channel levels.

The needs analysis also identified a requirement for Digital Asset Management (DAM), revealing Nordlux’s need to manage all digital visual assets for each product, including certificates, manuals, packaging files, and product images.

Nordlux chose to leverage inriver PIM’s built-in DAM functionalities to handle this effectively.

This solution also enables Nordlux to easily share and provide retailers with access to all digital assets through the intuitive and user-friendly inriver Content Store.

Nordlux needed a scalable and future-proof approach to product lifecycle management, ensuring seamless control of product data from conception to end-of-life.
