Aller Media boosts innovation with a new digital architecture

Modern IT architecture and a clear Azure cloud strategy drive Aller Media’s digital transformation.

The challenge

With millions of readers shifting from print magazines to digital experiences, Aller Media needed to improve its digital conversion rates, speed up go-to-market processes, and increase efficiency in its digital operations.

Previously, all changes had to be made directly in the ERP system, a practice that became increasingly cumbersome and inefficient, highlighting the need for a major transformation.

About Aller Media

Aller Media A/S is the leading publisher of magazines and weeklies in the Nordics, delivering content and entertainment to readers across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The company’s digital foundation has historically been built on a large-scale ERP system.

The solution

A dedicated team of ten Immeo consultants worked on-site at Aller Media for six months, ensuring that all major and minor changes could be rapidly decided and executed.

"By the end, they were practically part of our family," says Michael Enk, former Group IT Director.

Despite project complexity and tight deadlines, every milestone was successfully met.

The result

We helped Aller Media modernize its IT architecture by creating a new platform based on independent microservices, ensuring it is future-ready.

The cloud-based IT platform has provided Aller Media with faster go-to-market capabilities, greater scalability, and reduced operational risks.

Behind the solution

Together with Aller Media, we developed a new cloud strategy, focusing on building a modern architecture, migrating applications, and modernizing the platform into independent business capabilities implemented as microservices in Microsoft Azure.

A key objective was to accelerate product launches and enhance operational flexibility.

One of the greatest advantages of microservices is that they can be deployed individually. This allowed Aller Media to move one microservice at a time to a new technology and validate its benefits before rolling out full-scale changes.

The new architecture follows the "build once – use everywhere" principle, enabling content to be easily shared across services. This reduces the risks associated with change management and allows Aller Media to test and introduce new ideas and products without impacting other software components.

Even the executives roll up their sleeves and get to work. Their success is our success, and they stand by that. They deliver what’s agreed upon and don’t just try to sell more. If an unexpected problem arises, they fix it - even on weekends or during holidays.

The collaboration

Throughout the project, our partnership was defined by close collaboration, shared objectives, and a deep understanding of Aller Media’s business needs.

We provided both technical expertise and strategic insight, forming the foundation for a successful digital transformation.

We chose Immeo because they are known for quality. Their error rate is low, their coding is solid, and their architectural structure is well-organized. We truly value that.
